Updated Derby Picks + some mush

Things have changed, as they always do, after my final review of this week's works at Churchill Downs, and the weather forecast for tomorrow.

I'll be betting an exacta box with Friesan Fire, Papa Clem and I Want Revenge. I'm also betting Hold Me Back and Chocolate Candy across the board.

FWIW, the best horse isn't even in the race. That'd be the filly, Rachel Alexandra, who runs in the Oaks in a couple hours.

Mushy part: Thank you to all the ladies that came out last night for cocktails. Even flying in from points across America, it was really great to be able to introduce you all, and have everyone in in one room for a few hours. I feel very blessed and lucky to have such great women friends in my life.

He had a bad work on Thursday. From the DRF:
Unfortunately, he did not look quite as sharp on Thursday morning when he appeared to take a couple of missteps before changing leads prematurely nearing the wire. Not what I wanted to see from a horse locked in as my top pick on Wednesday evening.

So I'm throwing him out...I think. I may switch him back in for Hold Me Back tomorrow. And Fresian Fire comes in because the track will be sloppy.

Who do you like?

I don't know much. I like his mid-East connection. I'm just looking for a couple horses going off in double digits for an exacta to make some money on. Joe Drape said a few weeks ago the winner of the Derby would be going off in double digits and I kind of agree. I like the Dunkirk if I had to bet a favorite though.

It's a strong field - any of about 10 horses could win and it would not surprise me.

Pioneerof The Nile is currently at 8-1, btw. Hard to not like that price.

Good luck!
